Research interests

I am primarily interested in the psychology of Internet fraud and topics connected to it. The topics include psychology of will / self-control, social psychology, psychology of persuasion, decision making processes, cyber-criminology, victimology and personality psychology.

I have recently started looking into the psychology of security. My main areas of interest there include: The compliance with security policies, educational campaigns, social engineering, and hacker taxonomy.

There are currently three distinct areas I am focusing on:

  • Online deception and deterrence (victimology, psychology of compliance, psychological mechanisms that elicit resistance to scammers...)
  • Online reputation systems (reputation frameworks, establishing veracity of reputation, insuring robustness ...)
  • Psychology of security (social engineering, educational campaigns, security nudges...)

The other area I am interested in is psychotherapy (from the perspective of the practitioneer).
